Tocca for Every Occasion

Now that the weather is getting colder and the holidays are approaching it's time to start thinking about settling in and making the home all warm and cozy.  Candles are my go to for instantly making a room feel and smell wonderful.  Our Tocca candles are by far the best luxury candle that you will ever burn.  They are deliciously fragrant and packaged beautifully in their signature blue box.  My favorite fragrances of the moment are Florence (the barn's signature scent) and Sofia is a wonderful one to burn in the kitchen.  I love to burn Colette in my bedroom, especially when I'm putting on my makeup and primping for the day - it just smells so pretty and feminine, and makes the daily beauty routine feel special.

These candles are not only luxuries that we can treat ourselves with, but they make fabulous gifts too.  I just recently gave one to my girlfriend for her 30th. They would also make a great hostess gift, bridal shower gift, housewarming gift, holiday gift, and of course a just because present.  In addition to candles, Tocca also makes amazing perfumes, lotions, soaps, lip glosses and body mists among other products.  We have the largest local selection of Tocca available here at the barn and we just can't say enough fab things about them.  So next time you need to buy a quick gift for someone special or yourself even don't forget to come in and check out our beautiful display!

The Timeless Tulip Table

I'm not really sure why or how, but our original 1950/60's Saarinen Tulip Table is still available.  Why this gem hasn't been snatched up yet along with the accompanying 4 seats that have been reupholstered in a chocolate chevron stripe is beyond me.  Perhaps it is hard for buyers to imagine how exactly such a modern and sleek style could work in a more traditional home.  I have posted some stellar examples of how you can pair this mid-century modern piece well with pretty much everything.

Sale THIS Saturday November 19th

Our doors are opening again this Saturday 11/19 at 9am until 4pm.  In the meantime, we are busy little elves getting ready for the holidays and planning some really great surprises for down the road...as in right after Thanksgiving.  Yes, we will be opening our doors the day after Turkey Day for (dare I say it) Black Friday!  So save up those pennies because you are not gonna wanna leave empty handed ; )

I thought I would share some pics of some recent projects.  These are pieces that have since been completed and you have probably seen in the barn but sometimes it's fun to see the creative process.

The wood used for these rustic signs is actually the original barnwood from Rose Hip.

I am currently obsessed with rub and buff, it comes in a ton of shades and gives everything you use it on a hand rubbed leafing that looks pro and is super easy and fun!  We redid this bench in the silver leaf and I love it.

This piece literally made it in and out of the barn in a couple of hours time so I just have to show you this stunning dresser that April did a few weeks ago (right before Halloween).  If you look close, she actually hand painted a nighttime street scape of Thornton, that is Yellow House and Barefoot Yoga in the picture.  Of course a local customer noticed the piece right away and scooped it up just as fast : )

Buy Handmade

So we have given our handmade section a little makeover as things were looking a bit untidy.  She is now all organized and lovely with shelves full of handmade goodies just perfect for stuffing stockings (hint hint).  We hope to start to bring in local and other artists works that we feel really compliment the barn and our style here.  Having said that, we are pleased to announce that we have the talented and lovely Kimberly Scola of chez sucre chez stocking our shelves with her handmade treaures!  Kimberly is a local Thornton artist who has designed pieces for Urban Outfitters and Terrain to name a few.  She makes beautiful cross stitch pieces, screen printed works, diy kits as well as adorable pin cushions and aprons.  You can check her out on her website here. We also have some other local artists work available including even some of our own!  We hope you come in and check out these amazing pieces!

Catching Up....

So as a follow up to 'A few surprises' I decided to post some before and after pics of the pieces that we had reupholstered.  It is such a transformation!  New upholstery is like makeup for furniture, it just makes an old piece look fresh and young again.

Mission accomplished : )
